These images are from my first picture book, The Sleeping Giant: A Tale From Kaua'i, a retold folktale about a mountain in Kapa'a, Kaua'i. It was published in fall 2006 by BeachHouse Publishing. The paintings are rendered in pastel with an acrylic under painting on acid free canvas board. I wrote and illustrated this picture book after years of research in Hawaiian folktales and legends and personal treks to Kaua'i.
